13 May 2022.- The Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil have prevented the introduction into Spain of almost four tonnes of hashish, in two consecutive operations with a difference of less than 24 hours.Four people have been arrested and two boats, an all-terrain vehicle, a trailer and a van with which the drug traffickers tried to flee by ramming police vehicles have been seized.
The events took place in the early hours of 1 May.Initially, officials from the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance and agents from the Civil Guard's OCON Sur, using the means of control of both institutions, located a semi-rigid inflatable boat that was transferring bundles to two small boats in an area near the Canela channel in Ayamonte (Huelva).
Once the loading was completed, the boats headed towards the area where they intended to smuggle, followed by the forces in action. Finally, when they tried to flee, the boats were seized and the three crew members of the boats were arrested. In this action, 63 burlap bales containing hashish were seized.
A few hours later, another RIB was located, this time bound for the capital of Huelva, where a control device was set up that allowed the unloading to be detected on the Espigón beach and the subsequent loading of the drugs into a van and a trailer.
In the presence of the officers, the loaded van rammed the police vehicles and began to flee through the streets of the city, which led to a chase involving members of the Local Police and officers of the National Police, which ended with the interception of the van.
In this second action, one person was arrested and both the van, which was loaded with bundles of hashish, and a trailer also loaded with bundles and an all-terrain vehicle were seized.A total of 61 bales of hashish were seized in this operation.
The investigated facts were brought to the attention of the Courts of First Instance and Instruction of Ayamonte on duty and of Huelva, who ordered the detention of the arrested persons.
