Suspension for the year 2023 of certain tariff preferences granted to some GSP beneficiary countries

On June 30, COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2022/1039 of June 29, 2022, establishing provisions for the application of Regulation (EU) No. 978/2012, was published in the Official Journal of the EU. of the European Parliament and the Council regarding the suspension for 2023 of certain tariff preferences granted to some GSP beneficiary countries.

In accordance with Article 8.1 of Regulation (EU) No 978/2012, tariff preferences under the general scheme of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) should be suspended in respect of products of a section of the GSP originating in a GSP beneficiary country if , for three consecutive years, the average value of imports into the Union of such products from that country exceeds the thresholds indicated in Annex VI to that Regulation.

The countries for which certain tariff preferences are suspended are India, Indonesia and Kenya and the list of sections of the GSP for which tariff preferences are suspended is contained in the Annex to the recently published Implementing Regulation.
