What is Customs Surveillance?
Learn about the organisation and functions of the Customs Surveillance Service
Personal and operational means
Currently, 1,850 officials perform their duties in the Customs Surveillance Area, of which 984 belong to the Investigation specialty and 866 to the different Maritime specialties. All of them are authorized to carry weapons, so the operational means include individually-equipped weapons. On the other hand, the officials have the character of judicial police, a mission for which surveillance and monitoring equipment and technology and a global system of legal interception of communications are used.
Customs Surveillance has a fleet of 37 vessels (equipped with fixed weapons) and 10 aircraft. Check the characteristics of some of our media in Related content on this page.
