II.2.1.3. What is the applicable transit regime?
If the goods are declared for transit, the above distinction relating to the customs status of the goods determines the T1, T2 or T2F regime under which the goods must circulate.

Article 227, section 1, of the CAU
The T2 transit regime can only occur when a third country is involved. If Union goods temporarily leave the customs territory of the Union and no third country is involved in that movement, those goods may alternatively circulate under the provisions governing the status of Union goods, as described in more detail in Section II.2.2.
