III.4.1.8.1. Individual multi-use guarantee (exclusively for common transit countries)

Annex I of Appendix I of the Convention
Annex A2 of Appendix III of the Convention

In the event of a temporary prohibition of the comprehensive guarantee (including reduction and waiver), holders of the comprehensive guarantee scheme may, upon request, use a multi-purpose individual guarantee, provided that the following conditions are met.

  • The individual guarantee must take the form of a specific guarantee document covering only the types of goods covered by the prohibition decision.
  • This individual guarantee may only be used at the customs office of departure identified in the bond document.
  • The individual guarantee may be used to cover several simultaneous or successive operations, provided that the total amount corresponding to the operations it covers and whose regime has not been finalized does not exceed the reference amount of the individual guarantee. In this case, the guarantee office assigns an initial access code for the guarantee to the holder of the regime. The policyholder may assign one or more access codes to this guarantee so that it can be used by himself or her or his or her representatives.
  • The completion of the regime for a transit operation covered by the individual guarantee will result in the release of the amount corresponding to the operation in question, which may be reused to cover another operation, within the limit of the guarantee amount.

The individual multiple-use guarantee is only applicable to common transit operations initiated in common transit countries at the customs office of departure or by authorized shippers. It cannot be used for Union transit operations initiated in the EU.

Code "9" must be indicated on a transit declaration as the warranty code. This code does not exist in EU legislation.
