1. Navigable waterways of the Rhine in the strict sense:

Lobith-Amsterdam connection: — Rhine, Waal, Amsterdam - Rhine canal
- Lobith connection - Rotterdam port territory: — Rhine, Waal, Merwede, Noord, Neue Meuse, Nieuwe Waterweg — Rhine, Lek, Neue Meuse, Nieuwe Waterweg

Connection Lobith - Dordrecht - Hansweert - Antwerp: Rhine, Waal, Merwede, Dordtse Kil or Nieuwe Merwede, Hollands Diep, Volkerak, Krammer, Zijpe, Mastgat, Keeten, Oosterschelde (Eastern Scheldt Canal), via Zuid-Beveland, Westerschelde (Western Scheldt), Scheldt

Connection Lobith - Dordrecht - Hansweert - Ghent: Rhine, Waal, Merwede, Dordtse Kil or Nieuwe Merwede, Hollands Diep, Volkerak, Krammer, Zijpe, Mastgat, Keeten, Oosterschelde (Eastern Scheldt), Zuid-Beveland canal, Westerschelde (Western Scheldt), Terneuzen canal

Connection Lobith - De Kempen - Smeermaas or St. Pieter: all usual navigable routes between these places and the confluences with the following waterways: Rhine, Waal, Juliana-kanaal, Dieze, Zuid-Willemsvaart, Wessem-Nederweert canal.
2. The following vessels shall be deemed to be using the Rhine waterways:
- ships from the Rhine bound for Antwerp or Ghent, or
- Vessels from Antwerp or Ghent which must leave the Netherlands via the Rhine when passing through the port of Rotterdam to transship goods in transit covered by the Rhine Manifest or to collect goods which must leave the Netherlands via the Rhine waterways leading to Antwerp or Ghent via that river.
3. In practice, the waterway that has existed since 1975 and reaches Antwerp via the Kreekrak Locks is also considered a Rhineland waterway.
