IX.2.2.3. Revocation of authorization

Annex 9, Part II, Section 6, of the TIR Convention

The guaranteeing association may refuse the TIR Carnet holder permission to use the TIR guarantee. In addition, there are two other ways to deny the holder of an authorized TIR Carnet access to the TIR regime:

  • by excluding it from the TIR regime in accordance with the provisions of Article 38 of the TIR Convention; or
  • revoking its authorisation to use TIR Carnets in accordance with Article 6(4) of the TIR Convention.

The authorization may also be revoked by the competent authority in response to a request from the holder of a TIR Carnet.

Article 229 of the CAU

The decision taken by a customs authority of a Member State shall apply throughout the customs territory of the Union to all TIR operations presented by that TIR carnet holder to a customs office for admission.
