V.3.4. Specific situations (pro memoria)

In the event of theft, loss, or destruction of a transit declaration or T2L/T2LF document, the customs office that issued the original document may issue a duplicate.

The interested party requesting a duplicate must duly justify the request and declare in writing that the original will be returned if found.

Authorised consignors and authorised issuers may also issue a duplicate of transit declarations or T2L/T2LF documents provided that:

  • have issued the original document;
  • have submitted a duly justified application to the competent authority for authorization to issue a duplicate of the original; and
  • the competent authority has accepted the application.

Customs will assess the risk of abuse and, in particular, investigate repeated requests.

The duplicate will bear in capital letters: i) the mention “DUPLICATE”; ii) the stamp of the customs office, the authorized consignor or the authorized issuer issuing the duplicate; and iii) the signature of the competent person.
