VII.1.2.2.3. Information exchange
Throughout the investigation and collection process, the messages "Investigation and Collection Information" (IE144) and "Research and Collection Information Request" (IE145) can be sent to exchange additional information or ask questions about a specific transaction.
This exchange of information may be initiated by both the customs office of departure and the customs office of destination; To continue the procedure, it will not be necessary to provide a response (dissociated messages).
The IE144 message will be used by the customs office of departure and the IE145 message, in turn, by the customs office of destination.
If additional paper documents are required, they can be sent by other means (fax, mail, email, etc.) directly to the contact person listed in the messages, clearly stating the master reference number (MRN) of the transaction to which they correspond. Such paper documentation must be submitted using form TC20 BIS "Submission of information/documents relating to movements under the NCTS". See Annex VII.8.4 for an example of a TC20 BIS form.
