VII.3.4.2. Sending the "Research Request" message (IE142)

The competent authority of the country of departure will send an "Investigation Request" (IE142) to the competent authority of the country of destination. This message is required:

  • to the declared customs office of destination when the information entered in box 8 of a transit declaration is considered sufficient; or
  • to the effective destination customs office that sent the IE006 message; or
  • to the customs office of destination when the information provided by the holder of the procedure is considered sufficient to continue the investigation procedure (see sections VII.3.2.2 and VII.3.4.4.4).

In order to facilitate the work of customs officials, the contact person at the customs office of departure must be indicated.
The destination customs office will respond with the message “Investigation Response” (IE143).
