VII.3.4.4.1. Search the records

The competent authority of the country of destination will first search its own records or, where appropriate, the records of the authorized recipient. Sometimes, this search may reveal that the transit procedure has indeed ended and that only the corresponding messages (IE006 and IE018) have been lost.

If a search in the authorised recipient's own records or those of the authorised recipient proves unsuccessful, the competent authority of the country of destination shall contact:

• with the consignee, who may have received the goods and documents directly without them having been presented to the declared customs office of destination or another customs office of destination; or
• with any other competent person who can provide additional information on this matter.
