VII.3.4.4.3. Response time if the investigation procedure has been initiated with the destination customs office

Article 310, sections 4 and 6, of the AE

The competent authority of the country of destination shall reply without delay and, in any event, within 28 days of receipt of the request for additional information [via the message "Request for information on investigation and recovery" (IE145)] or the response via the message "Response to investigation request" (IE143) (see section VII.3.4.4.5 regarding response codes).

If the investigation procedure has been initiated by the holder of the procedure and the holder has provided sufficient information to proceed, the competent authority of the country of destination shall request, without delay and in any case, within forty days of receipt of the investigation request, additional information (IE145 message) or a response (IE143 message). See section VII.3.4.4.5 regarding response codes.
