Nearly 100 packs of cigarettes were seized in an operation at the entrances to the port of Cartagena

  • The operation, which involved a drone unit from Customs Surveillance and agents from the Fiscal and Border Section of the Civil Guard, inspected more than one hundred vehicles.

December 16, 2025. Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, with the collaboration of the Port Police of the Cartagena Port Authority, have carried out an operation outside the port facilities of the Escombreras dock in the port of Cartagena, which has resulted in the seizure of almost one hundred packs of contraband cigarettes and the filing of ten complaints for different infractions.

This reinforced device in the areas of taxation (diesel and tobacco) and citizen security was intended to detect any activity related to smuggling.

Nearly one hundred packs of contraband cigarettes

The operation resulted in up to ten reports being filed for possession of narcotics and prohibited weapons and for smuggling almost one hundred packs of cigarettes, infractions covered by the Law on the Protection of Citizen Security, the General Traffic Regulations and the Law on the Repression of Smuggling.

The operation was carried out by Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency, with the collaboration of a drone unit and the Customs and Excise Administration. From Cartagena, agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Borders Section, Citizen Security and Canine Service, and has had the collaboration of the Port Police of the Cartagena Port Authority.
