A marijuana plantation with nearly 150 plants hidden on a property in Cartagena has been dismantled.

  • The plantation had a technical installation of lighting and forced air conditioning to optimize plant growth as much as possible.

  • In the operation, two men and two women have been charged with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

July 1, 2025.- On June 4, Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and National Police officers proceeded to dismantle a marijuana crop located on a property between the towns of Cartagena and Molinos Marfagones and arrested the four people responsible for the crop, who are charged with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

As a result of the investigations carried out by agents regarding the location of drug production and distribution points, the existence of a marijuana plantation located on a property between Cartagena and Molinos Marfagones was confirmed.

Officials' surveillance of the area under investigation confirmed the existence of a fraudulent electricity connection that the marijuana plantation owners had allegedly established to avoid the high electricity costs required by these facilities.

Customs Surveillance and National Police investigators established a joint operation to access the property, where they discovered nearly 150 marijuana plants in different stages of growth spread across three rooms, which were seized by officers.

In addition, the indoor marijuana cultivation involved a large amount of electrical equipment used for this type of plantation, such as air conditioners, lighting, filters, transformers, and fans. This technical installation was designed to optimize plant growth as much as possible.

The presence and collaboration of workers from the energy supply company was necessary to eliminate the risk of fire and to disconnect the electrical connections that had been made fraudulently and without the necessary safety measures.

Four people responsible for the cultivation were subsequently arrested and charged with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

The operation involved investigators from the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Office in Murcia and officers from the National Police Station in Cartagena (Murcia).
