The Tax Agency seizes more than 1,500 kg. of hashish in the province of Cadiz

An inflatable boat and an all-terrain vehicle have been seized.

The Tax Agency has seized 1,550 kilograms of hashish in the early hours of Saturday morning in an operation against drug trafficking carried out by Customs Surveillance officials in Cadiz.

The operation, called "ZÁFIRO", began at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday when a surveillance device detected a semi-rigid inflatable boat, about 7 meters long, sailing towards the coast of Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz).

At around 4:00 a.m. on the same day, the target under surveillance headed towards the area known as "Punta Montijo" in the municipality of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, so the Customs Surveillance patrol boat began following it and proceeded to intercept it at the time of the stash.

After an exhaustive count of the seized drugs, it showed an approximate weight of 1,550 kilos of hashish resin, distributed in 52 bales of similar characteristics.

An all-terrain vehicle was also seized, which was found open and with no one inside near the stash area.

The investigation is still ongoing, so it is not ruled out that some arrests will be made in the next few hours. Both the drugs and the seized boat have been placed at the disposal of the Sanlúcar de Barrameda Court (Cádiz), acting as guards.

Operation "ZÁFIRO" is part of a special surveillance operation developed by Customs Surveillance officers assigned to the Cádiz staff of the Tax Agency, which aims to combat the smuggling of sensitive goods and drug trafficking.
