The Tax Agency seizes 1,600 kilos of hashish

Three people arrested and a boat seized. The drugs are believed to have a market value of more than two million euros.

Civil servants from the Tax Agency in Valencia and Murcia intercepted an inflatable boat transporting a total of 1,600 kilograms of hashish, that was sailing approximately 20 nautical miles off Cabo de Palos. The drugs were hidden in 52 burlap sacks, and would have fetched a sum of 2,211,200.00 euros on the black market

The operation started at 6 p.m. on 17 January, when aero-naval teams in Valencia and Murcia detected the presence of an inflatable boat heading towards the coast. The Arao patrol vessel, belonging to the Customs authorities in Valencia, and the Colimbo IV patrol boat, belonging to the Customs authorities in Murcia, intercepted the vessel at 8:00 p.m. this evening.

As a result of the operation, three people have been arrested and a boat measuring 10 metres, equipped with two 225 c.v motors has been seized.

The drugs, the detainees and the seized boat will be passed on to the investigating court, the Court of Cartagena in the coming few days.
