The Tax Agency will extend by two days the deadline for filing declarations with direct debit, which expires this Sunday

  • A total of 16 Personal Income Tax, VAT, Societies and Excise Duties return templates will be able to present until the day 17 for payments with direct debit.

  • The significant demand generated by requests for pre-populated income tax returns, the procedures for payments to suppliers and the filing of periodical self-assessments has increased demand on the Agency’s website, with peaks of more than 8,000 connections per second.

  • By noon, taxpayers had already requested 760,362 drafts and tax data online using the RENO system, confirming 250,462 drafts.
  • More than 17% of suppliers have already accepted the conditions established by the Local Corporations as part of the Invoice Payment Plan on the Agency's website, six percent up on the figures recorded on the 10th.

  • The Tax Agency continues to work to return the service to normal.

The Tax Agency has extended the deadline for submitting direct debit declarations due this Sunday by two days, providing taxpayers with more time to satisfy their obligations in response to the significant demand for access to the Agency's website seen in recent days. To this end, involving the collaborating organisations in the process, the corresponding regulatory modifications and IT procedures are being performed.

In light of the difficulties accessing the e-office, due to the significant demand for the assistance services provided to citizens as part of the 2011 Income Tax return campaign, the Tax Agency is currently processing the regulatory modifications needed to extend the deadline for filing tax returns by two days when paying by direct debit.

The measure will affect a total from 16 models of more significant statement (basically for the settlement of quarterly and monthly payments of the PERSONAL INCOME TAX, Corporation tax, VAT and Excise Duties) whose next presentation term with direct debit will be extended from April 15 to 17 April.

The Tax Agency apologises for any inconvenience caused, attributable to three main factors: the sheer volume of requests for pre-populated tax returns and income tax details via the REN0 system, the online procedures for suppliers and city councils as part of the Invoice Payment Plan set up by the Government and the regular electronic filing of tax returns by taxpayers.

These three factors yesterday caused a demand for data exchange on the Tax Agency's website of over 8,000 connections per second, causing an obvious difficultly in providing the service.

Developments with Income Tax drafts and refunds

Despite this, and in relation to the income tax campaign, at noon today, the Tax Agency had received 760,372 requests for drafts and tax data via the REN0 system website. Taxpayers had confirmed 250,462 of these drafts.

Comparing the first two days of 2011 and 2012 campaigns (2010 and 2011 personal income tax), the number of drafts and tax data displayed has increased 3.2 times, to a total of 1,634.446. Furthermore, 17,294 refunds have been approved, compared to 5,475 during the same period last year.

Also as proof of the gradual improvement of the service on the Tax Agency's website, currently 17.14% of suppliers, either in person, either through town councils, had already completed the process of accepting their invoices within the framework of the Payment Plan, which is six percentage points more than on the 10th.
