The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard seize 7,740 kilos of hashish hidden in greenhouse plastic rolls

One person arrested and two vehicles seized.

The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have seized 7,740 kilos of hashish on the morning of January 31 in Níjar, Almería. The drugs were found in a container carrying 320 rolls of greenhouse plastic, 185 of which contained hashish. The drugs were hidden in PVC pipes lined with a layer of lead to avoid detection by scanner. One person has been arrested and two vehicles have been seized.

The container had already been located previously in the port of Valencia, coming from Casablanca. The investigation found evidence of the existence of drugs inside the vehicle and alerted the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, which authorized its controlled delivery. Customs Surveillance Teams from the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard then established a discreet device to monitor and control the container.

At eight o'clock in the morning on January 31, the transport arrived at a warehouse in the Granatilla Industrial Estate in Níjar (Almería). At that time, the container was seized and the person waiting for it was arrested. The drug count showed a weight of 7,740 kilograms.

The detainee, whose two vehicles have been seized, owns a small business selling agricultural products and has been brought before the Investigating Court No. 4 of Almería.

Additional investigations are currently underway and further arrests are not ruled out. The shipment of hashish in containers is a novel system, and this is the first shipment of its kind to be detected.
