The Tax Agency has already returned more than 6.1 billion euros to 10.2 million taxpayers

- 62% of the 16.7 million registered personal income tax returns have been filed online, a method that has been chosen by 1.8 million more taxpayers this year than last year
- The confirmed Income Tax drafts reach 7.9 million, of which 4.8 million have been filed online, 33% more
- The REN0 service has been used so far by 12.5 million taxpayers, 92% more than the previous year
- During the campaign, more than 2.6 million face-to-face appointments and more than 8.1 million calls have been attended to

As of June 29, the Tax Agency has already returned 6.132 billion euros, corresponding to more than 10.220.000 declarations, in the 2011 Personal Income Tax (IRPF) campaign. In this way, more than 75% of the 13.5 million refunds requested have been paid to taxpayers.

The 2011 Tax Return Campaign ends today. Taxpayers who have not yet filed their tax return may do so throughout the day through the various services offered by the Agency. In the case of the Internet, you have until midnight on the page sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es .

This year, the 2011 Income Tax Campaign has been marked by a significant acceleration in the rate of refunds, especially in the first half of the year, thanks to the increased use of the Internet as a means of processing tax returns. In fact, as the campaign is about to close, and despite the fact that the overall forecast for returns is a 1.8% drop, there is still a growth of 4.6% compared to the returns paid on the same date last year.

Taxpayers have already filed 16.7 million personal income tax returns, 7.8% more than last year. Of this total, 10.3 million (between drafts and other declarations), 61.6%, have been processed online. As of June 29, the increase in online filings, compared to the same date last year, is more than 21%, which means that 1.8 million taxpayers have joined the group that prefers this method of filing without going to offices because it is the most convenient and fastest way to obtain the refund.
The increase in online filings has been accompanied by a drop of more than half a million in the number of returns filed through financial institutions, which has not resulted in greater pressure on the personalized attention usually provided through Income Tax platforms.

In the case of drafts, and out of a total of 7.9 million confirmed, those processed online exceed the figure of 4.8 million, 33% more than on the same date last year. Drafts confirmed online account for 61.3% of all confirmed drafts, compared to 48.9% last year.

More than 12.5 million REN0 users

This advance in online submissions is justified by the high use of the REN0 system. By June 29, the express service for quickly obtaining draft and tax information had been used by more than 12.5 million taxpayers, clearly exceeding the initial target of 8 million and registering a 92% growth over last year's figures on the same day of the campaign.

In addition to this streamlining of procedures, the REN0 system has made it possible to reduce the amount of drafts and tax data sent by mail by one third. In any case, and thinking of those citizens who do not wish to use the Internet as a means of processing their tax returns, as every year the Tax Agency has made its physical offices and telephone services available to taxpayers. With the last day of the campaign still to be counted, more than 2.6 million face-to-face appointments have been arranged and, as of June 28, 8.1 million calls have been answered, of which 6.2 million were with personalized attention through an operator.

Wealth Tax

In the current campaign, and in parallel with the presentation of the Income Tax, the obligation to declare the Wealth Tax has been recovered for those taxpayers with a quota to pay (after applying the corresponding deductions and bonuses) and also for those without a quota to pay, but who have assets and rights with a value greater than 2 million euros.

As of June 29, more than 107,600 tax returns have been filed, amounting to more than 484 million euros. The initial forecasts (191,000 taxpayers, for an amount of 1.035 billion euros) were made before various regional governments announced their decision to apply bonuses on this tax.
