The Tax Agency has already returned more than 7.7 billion euros to 12.25 million taxpayers

- By the end of July, more than 81% of refund requests had been fulfilled and the amount of refunds reached 70%

- Of the total number of drafts and declarations, 10,700,000 have been submitted online, 20% more than last year

As of July 25, more than 12.2 million taxpayers of Personal Income Tax (IRPF) have already received the refund corresponding to the 2011 Income Tax campaign, which means that 81% of all requested refunds (14.9 million) have been paid. In total, the Tax Agency has reimbursed taxpayers more than 7.7 billion euros, 70% of the total amount requested and 0.7% less than last year at the same time. The initial forecast for the campaign as a whole contemplated a 1.2% drop in the amount to be returned.
In the 2011 Income Tax Campaign, just over 19.3 million declarations were submitted, of which 10.7 million, 55%, were submitted online, which represents eight points more than last year (47%). While the total number of declarations, according to the recordings made on July 25, grew by 1.7% compared to last year, online filings increased by 20.4%, thanks to the fact that more than 1.8 million taxpayers have joined this fast track for filing their declaration, without having to go to the Income Tax platforms.
Specifically, of the 8.4 million IRPF drafts submitted, 4.9 million have been sent to the Tax Agency online, 33% more than last year. Of the remaining 10.8 million returns, 5.8 million have also been submitted electronically, 11% more than a year ago. The increase in online submissions has more than offset the drop in drafts submitted through financial institutions. This decrease, which amounts to 660,000 declarations, has not therefore resulted in greater pressure on the personalized attention that is usually provided through the platforms.
The significant improvement in online filings is justified by the changes incorporated this year on the Agency's website with the aim of facilitating online access to the REN0 system for quick obtaining of the draft and tax data, as well as to speed up the filing of the drafts and Income Tax returns themselves. In this campaign, the express service had been used by 12.6 million taxpayers, 92% more than last year.
During the 2011 Income Tax campaign, the Tax Agency has made more than 23 million tax drafts and data available to citizens, has arranged more than 2.6 million appointments for the preparation of the declaration and has answered more than 8.2 million calls (77% with personalized attention through an operator).

Wealth Tax
This campaign has seen the reinstatement of the obligation to declare Wealth Tax for taxpayers with a tax liability (after applying deductions and bonuses) and for those without a tax liability who have assets and rights worth more than 2 million euros.
As of July 25, 125,000 tax returns have been filed, amounting to more than 579 million euros. The initial forecasts (191,000 taxpayers, for an amount of 1.035 billion euros) were made before various regional governments announced their decision to apply bonuses on this tax.
