The Tax Agency foils the arrival of six tonnes of hashish off the coasts of Huelva and Malaga
- Three arrested and three sports boats seized
The Tax Agency, in three different operations, has seized 3,373 kilos of hashish in Huelva and has prevented the introduction of another 3,000 kilos of the same substance on the coast of Malaga.
In the first operation carried out on the 9th of this month, a Customs patrol boat from the Tax Agency, on a coastal control and surveillance mission, detected a suspicious recreational boat without a crew docked at a pier inside the Huelva estuary.
As the Tax Agency officials approached the vessel, they observed that it was carrying an undetermined number of burlap and raffia bundles, of the type commonly used to transport this type of narcotics. The intercepted vessel was therefore taken to the Huelva Customs Surveillance maritime base, where the seized goods were weighed, which showed a total of 973 kilos.
The second operation took place south of Marbella, when the Customs air-naval detection equipment detected the presence of three semi-rigid inflatable boats heading towards the coast of Malaga. The appropriate operation was carried out, but was detected by the smugglers, who fled in haste, throwing over 100 bales of hashish overboard, equivalent to 3,000 kilos of drugs. The chase ended with the interception of one of the inflatable boats and the arrest of its three crew members.
These shipments are in addition to the 2,400 kilos seized in a third operation on the coast of Huelva, in the early hours of September 14, within the framework of a joint operation between Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the National Police. In this operation, a 12-metre-long semi-rigid inflatable boat equipped with three outboard motors was seized, which was detected sailing without lights.
All these seizures are a consequence of the control plan for the Andalusian coast established by the Tax Agency and developed by Customs.
