The Tax Agency has agreed to refund 6.6 billion euros to 10.5 million taxpayers
The 2013 Income Campaign has concluded
- More than 13.5 million taxpayers, 77% of the total, have already filed their income tax return online
- The number of online tax returns registered has increased by 18% and, specifically, those that are not drafts have increased by 32% following the launch of the simplified PADRE programme
- In three years, the number of taxpayers filing their tax returns online has grown by more than 31%, streamlining their procedures and accelerating, where appropriate, refunds.
- There are already 577,000 people registered for the '24-hour PIN', a complementary service to the REN0, used by more than 15 million taxpayers in the current campaign
June 30, 2014.- The Tax Agency concludes today the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) campaign for the 2013 fiscal year. Taxpayers who have not yet filed their tax return may do so throughout the day through the various services offered by the Agency. In the case of the Internet, you have until midnight on the page sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es .
To date, the Tax Agency has agreed to refund 6.675 billion euros to 10.5 million taxpayers. The refunds already paid, a total of 10,070,000, amount to more than 6.3 billion euros, so that 74% of the refunds requested, and 63% of the amounts, have already been paid.
To date, 17,600,000 personal income tax returns have been filed, 988,000 more than last year at the same time. Of these, 13,500,000 were submitted online, which represents 77% of the total and 2,100,000 more than at the end of the previous campaign.
19.3 million tax returns are expected to be filed this year, a slight drop of 0.5% compared to the previous year. Therefore, there are still statements to be incorporated. However, the fact that, with one day to go before the end of the campaign, there is still a 6% year-on-year growth shows the degree of acceleration in filings, both in the returns to be returned and in those with a result to be paid, which increased by 20% compared to the initial campaign forecast, which reflected a 0.3% decrease in the returns to be paid.
Three out of four taxpayers, online
This acceleration in declarations occurs in the context of a new increase in the use of the Internet. Three out of four taxpayers already choose this option to file their tax return. If in 2011, at the end of the campaign, the number of online filings totalled 10.3 million, now there are 13.5 million, 31% more than three years ago, when measures were first reinforced to promote the online filing route as the main method, speeding up taxpayers' procedures and, where applicable, the refunds they are entitled to.
Compared to last year, the increase in online filings is concentrated in the declarations that are prepared using the various existing aid programmes and with the tax data provided by the Agency, with an increase of more than 32%, compared to a 3% growth in drafts confirmed online. Regardless of the method of submission, of the total of 17.6 million declarations, more than 8 million are confirmed drafts, with a slight reduction of 1.7%, and almost 9.5 million are the remaining declarations, with an increase of 13.6%.
This difference in behaviour between drafts and other declarations, which had already been observed throughout the campaign, coincides with the important improvements that the Tax Agency has made this year to the PADRE programme to facilitate its usability and speed up filing. The new simplified PADRE offers the same level of data disaggregation as it has had up to now, but with a more comfortable download of information and with greater ease for the taxpayer when modifying said information, if necessary.
The other new feature of the campaign, the '24-hour PIN' service, already has 577,000 subscribers. Registered taxpayers, in addition to using the system to obtain the draft and tax data, will be able to use the PIN to check the status of their refund and for other procedures unrelated to the campaign. In parallel, the traditional REN0 service has been used by more than 15,100,000 taxpayers.
Support and information services
Throughout today, the Tax Agency maintains its services available, both online, in person and by telephone:
- Internet. sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es (offers information and procedures without timetables).
- Telephone Assistance: 901 200 345 (draft management; 9 - 21 hours).
- Income Information: 901 33 55 33 (resolution of doubts; 9 - 20 hours).
With the last day of the campaign still to be counted, the Tax Agency has made almost 2.4 million appointments this year and, as of June 26, has answered almost 6 million calls.
Wealth Tax
In parallel to the Personal Income Tax Campaign, the Agency has developed the campaign for Wealth Tax, which must be declared by taxpayers who owe taxes (after applying relevant deductions and discounts) and by taxpayers who do not owe taxes but who last year had assets and rights worth over 2 million euros.
By the end of the campaign, more than 162,000 asset declarations had already been registered and the amount to be paid reached 730 million euros.
