More than 145,000 taxpayers regularise their pensions from abroad totalling a value of 309 million euros

Balance of the extraordinary regularisation procedure.

  • Returned pensioners and foreigners established in Spain have regularized outstanding fees since 2010 without the application of sanctions, surcharges or interest
  • The amount paid is similar to the cost of the reduction in withholdings to 15% for all self-employed workers in 2015.
  • The Tax Agency has received more than 32,000 requests for the refund of penalties and surcharges issued for regularizations prior to the extraordinary procedure, and has already returned 13 million euros
  • The Agency has provided in-person assistance to more than 74,000 taxpayers and has sent more than 650,000 letters informing potential beneficiaries of the process.

July 29, 2015.- A total of 145,248 taxpayers have taken advantage of the extraordinary process opened between January and June of this year for the regularization of pensions from abroad without the application of sanctions, surcharges nor interests. In these six months, both returned national pensioners and foreign pensioners established in Spain have regularized a total of 309 million euros for personal income tax payments for the periods 2010-2013, which is close, for example, to the cost of the recent reduction in withholdings 15% for all self-employed workers in 2015.

In this process, taxpayers have submitted more than 392,000 self-assessments, which, taking into account the total amount received for regularizations, brings the average amount received per year to 891 euros.

The extraordinary regularization period was also accompanied by a procedure for the forgiveness of sanctions, surcharges and interests that the Tax Agency had issued for regularizations prior to the process opened between last January and June. The registered forgiveness applications total 32,414 and the Agency has so far agreed to return more than 13 million euros.
