The Tax Agency and the Platform for Seniors and Pensioners sign a collaboration protocol on information and assistance

Cooperation and advice for the elderly

  • The AEAT will prepare an annual plan to assist the elderly taking into account the contributions of the Platform, as well as specific information leaflets on the occasion of the Income Tax Campaign
  • In-person assistance is guaranteed for the elderly with an appointment, as well as walk-in care when the service capacity allows it, and telephone assistance will be reinforced with the support of the ADI.
  • The Agency will review the most frequently used models and forms to simplify and clarify the texts and operating instructions.
  • Agreements will be promoted with local entities for the provision of information and assistance services in the area of municipalities

December 19, 2022 .- The Tax Agency and the Platform for Seniors and Pensioners (PMP) have today signed a protocol that establishes the basic guidelines for the assistance that the Agency offers to seniors in tax matters and establishes a general framework for collaboration in which future actions of the two signatory parties in this matter will be registered.

The protocol underlines the Tax Agency's desire to continue and advance in its attention to the problems of the elderly, by promoting actions that ensure they have complete and up-to-date tax information.

The protocol also includes the recognition by the PMP representatives of the efforts that the Agency has been making to carry out its information and assistance work in a way that is more accessible to all citizens.

Specific actions

The document signed today provides for the creation of a Joint Commission for Collaboration, of an equal nature, which will be responsible for identifying and analyzing the specific problems of the elderly, proposing measures and actions, and evaluating their results.

Among these actions to be agreed upon by the Joint Commission, the protocol includes the preparation, by the Tax Agency, of a plan of assistance for the elderly, which will be updated before 31 January of each year and which will take into account the information on the problems and needs of the elderly provided by the PMP.

The protocol also establishes that any Tax Agency office may provide assistance to senior citizens by appointment, as well as assistance without an appointment when the service capacity allows it. And, if walk-in care is not possible at that time, you will be offered an in-person or telephone appointment, of your choice, for the nearest date. Likewise, telephone information and assistance for the preparation of declarations and other procedures will be increased with the support of the Comprehensive Digital Assistance Administrations (ADI).

Furthermore, the Agency will review the most frequently used models and forms, and in particular those corresponding to electronic procedures, in order to simplify and clarify the texts and operating instructions.

On the occasion of the Income Tax campaign, the Agency will prepare an informative brochure, in paper and electronic format, with information aimed at senior citizens on the main information and assistance services. The Tax Agency will distribute the brochures through its special delegations, delegations and administrations, and the PMP will collaborate in their dissemination among its associates. This additional dissemination through the PMP will extend to all information that may be of interest to this group, especially the taxpayer calendar and assistance telephone numbers.

In addition, the Tax Agency will work on developing agreements with local entities to implement actions aimed at providing information and assistance services in the area of municipalities.

For its part, the Platform for Senior Citizens and Pensioners undertakes to inform, assist and advise the Tax Agency, among other issues, on technical developments, tools and the definition of existing or newly emerging standards, which may influence the best service that the Tax Agency provides to senior citizens.
