A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

• Three people have been arrested and four trailers and three tractor units have been seized.
• The drugs were hidden in different spaces in the vehicles.

November 24, 2023.- The Risk Analysis Unit (UAR), made up of officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal and Border Company of the port of Algeciras, has seized more than three tons of hashish at the facilities of the port of Algeciras.

As part of the risk analysis carried out by the unit in the port of Algeciras and as a result of the work of control and identification of vehicles, the agents have seized more than three tons of hashish hidden in false bottoms in four trailers that arrived at the port from Tangier.

The first seizure was made in a trailer that arrived at the port without the tractor unit, with more than 350 kilos of hashish hidden in a double bottom.

Subsequently, and in a single boat, three sets consisting of tractor units and their corresponding trailers were inspected, in which a large quantity of hashish was also found.  The search had to be thorough and lengthy as the drugs were found hidden in walls, floors and doors, specifically manufactured to make the most of the cavities made during these transports, which are difficult to detect.

The agents proceeded to extract the hashish pills found in the four trailers, which total 3,340 kilos.

In addition, the four trailers and three tractor units have been seized and the three drivers arrested for an alleged crime against public health.

The corresponding proceedings have been initiated regarding the events, which, together with the detainees and the confiscated items, have been made available to the judicial authority.
