December 6, 2025. The Risk Analysis Unit (ULAR), made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal and Border Company of the port of Algeciras, has seized more than 2,100 kilos of hashish in the port of Algeciras.
On November 9th, during the exercise of the fiscal and customs control functions carried out by the cabotage agents on the vehicles arriving in Algeciras from Tangier (Morocco), anomalies were observed in the structure of the lowers and beams of a trailer that presented unusual welds, finishes and configuration.
Given the suspicions, a search of the vehicle was carried out with the drug detection dog, which clearly indicated the suspicious area. After a thorough inspection of the underside of the trailer, the method of concealing the drugs was identified, which consisted of using the beams and lower structures of the semi-trailer as a false bottom or hollow beam, in order to introduce hashish resin, thus hindering its detection through an ordinary inspection.
As a result of the analysis, control, identification and inspection work of vehicles that ULAR carries out daily in the port of Algeciras, the investigators detected five other vehicles with similar characteristics and that, after being inspected, it was verified that they also transported hidden hashish.
In total, six trucks have been intercepted using the same concealment method. The total amount of hashish seized amounts to 2,133 kilos.
The drivers of the vehicles have been arrested as suspected perpetrators of a crime against public health. The detainees, along with the proceedings carried out and the seized items, have been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
