July 21, 2025.- The Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Service and the Civil Guard have seized more than 2,800 kilos of hashish hidden in the underbody of a semi-trailer from a truck coming from Tangier-Med (Morocco). The truck driver, a 57-year-old Moroccan citizen, has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The container carrying the drugs had previously been flagged for inspection by the Customs risk analysis system. Upon arrival at the port of Motril, the vehicle was inspected. It was among those that had disembarked from a ship arriving from the Moroccan port of Tangier-Med.
Agents from the Customs Surveillance Service and the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit of the Civil Guard at the Port of Motril used canine service dogs for the inspection, which inspected the underside of the truck. They then searched the interior of the semi-trailer again, and officers discovered it had a double bottom.
After lifting the floor and dismantling the back wall under the container's refrigeration unit with the help of the Motril Fire Department, officers discovered that the entire floor was filled with bales of hashish, weighing 2,855 kilos.
The truck driver has been arrested and, along with the drugs and the seized truck, will be brought before the Motril Mixed Duty Court.
