More than two tons of cocaine hidden among fruit seized at the port of Valencia

Operation of the Tax Agency, Civil Guard and National Police

November 27, 2025. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency, together with agents from the Civil Guard and National Police, have seized more than two tons of cocaine at the port of Valencia that was traveling inside boxes of fruit originating from Ecuador. In the operation, four people have been arrested and are accused of the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. This operation has dismantled one of the main cocaine import networks from Ecuador, which is accused of importing more than 2.5 tons of high-purity cocaine.

The investigation began in November 2023, as a result of arrests made after the controlled delivery of two containers that concealed more than 3,000 kilos of cocaine. From that investigation, several people were identified who might be involved in importing fruit in containers from South America, where they would be hiding cocaine.

Subsequently, as a result of the investigation, in November 2024, more than 500 kilos of cocaine were seized, hidden in one of the four containers imported by a Valencian company through the port of Vigo. No arrests were made this time, but the investigations continued, pointing to other companies with which the inquiries continued.

Already in November of this year, within the framework of the investigation, and continuing with the control carried out on the imports of fruit originating in South America, several containers were inspected. In one of them, 2,005 kilograms of cocaine were found, divided into 2,000 pills, inside boxes of fruit that came from Ecuador.

The controlled delivery of the drugs was authorized by the Court of Instruction on duty in Valencia, on Monday, November 17, and four people were arrested for their connection to a network of companies dedicated to the importation of large quantities of cocaine hidden in fruit containers. In addition, 10,000 euros, bladed weapons, two high-end cars, computers, mobile phones, a banknote counting machine, a metal detector and a frequency detector, and various documents were seized.

During the operation, carried out at the Mercavalència site, the following participated: the Regional Operational Unit of Valencia and the Technical Media Group of Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency, the Technical Media Group, Group 1 of the Udyco Valencia, Group 43 of Udyco Central and GOES of the National Police and the EDOA of Pontevedra of the Civil Guard.
