Information on new representative certificates (FNMT)

Since 6 June 2016, the FNMT has started to issue new certificates for representatives, in accordance with new European regulations.As of this date, the entity no longer issues the current certificates for corporate persons and entities with no legal personality, nor does it renew these certificates via its website.Nevertheless, these certificates can still be used until they expire or are revoked.

The three new certificates issued by the FNMT are:

  • Certificate for Representatives for a Sole or Joint Administrator:This certificate is issued to sole or joint administrators as representatives of corporate persons, for their relations with public administrations when contracting their goods or services or as part of their ordinary business.You can get your certificate for representatives without having to go to the registration offices in person, and without having to provide any documentation, provided that the Sole or Joint Administrator identifies his or herself with an electronic certificate for an individual, issued by the FNMT-RCM, or an electronic DNI, when requesting the certificate.The FNMT will contact the Commercial Register to confirm the powers of representation described in said Registry.
  • Certificate for Representatives of a Corporate Person:This certificate is issued to individuals as representatives of corporate persons, to be used with public administrations, entities and public bodies, which are linked to or dependent on said corporate persons.In this case, the recipient will need to go to a registration office with the documentation required to prove his or her capacity to act on behalf of the Legal Entity.
  • Certificate for Representatives of an Entity with no Legal Personality:This certificate is issued to individuals as representatives of entities with no legal personality in a tax context, or any other context established by legislation in force.In this case, accreditation in a registration office is also required.
