This data element refers to the type and reference of the transport document. For low value shipments, the reference to the transport document provided in this data element may, in certain cases, result in the waiver of the reference to the preceding document (see footnote [72] regarding with ED 12 01 000 000 of Annex B of AD CAU ).

Express transport companies usually provide the air waybill number as a transport document. This is a unique identifier for a specific shipment and can be used to search any of the systems (national and trans-European) to track the history of the shipment.

Postal service operators use the S10 barcode for the purposes of ED 12 01 000 000. This number allows you to track a specific postal shipment.
