Section III: Application and follow-up after signing an ARM
Given the number of EU AEOs benefiting from mutual recognition and the equally high number in MRA partner countries, implementing an MRA requires the development and deployment of an automatic data exchange mechanism. In other words, an ARM can only be implemented once an automatic data exchange mechanism has been created and implemented.
Once an MRA has been concluded, the dialogue with the partner country continues. There are frequent exchanges of information on new developments, including cooperation in the event of unilateral suspension of the MRA benefits. Best practices for implementing an MRA include joint dissemination to trade and conferences, seminars, and the development of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that explain aspects of the MRA.
The FAQs, which are already available, can be found on the DG TAXUD website at the following links:
To ensure that both parties maintain their standards regarding AEO procedures, it is strongly recommended that both parties conduct regular follow-up visits.
