Sales, Employment and Wages in Large Companies
The Statistics on Sales, Employment and Salaries in Large Companies (VESGE) offers aggregated information from the VAT and Withholding returns for work income of those considered Large Companies for tax purposes.
For these purposes, Large Companies are those natural or legal persons whose volume of operations has exceeded the figure of 6.01 million euros during the immediately preceding calendar year. They represent slightly less than 1% of the total number of VAT filers, but their weight in the turnover of all companies is greater than 60%.
These companies are required to submit their declarations monthly. In addition to the tax information itself, they provide information on economic variables (sales, employment, salaries) that allow the calculation of their tax obligations.
The result of the exploitation of these statements (with the nuances detailed in the methodological notes) provides information on the monthly evolution of sales, exports, imports, employment and wages. This information is presented as a series of index numbers, original and corrected for seasonal and calendar variations (CVEC). Furthermore, for the variables derived from the VAT models, deflated information is also presented.
Notice: The December 2023 publication of the VESGE includes the update of the correction of seasonal and calendar variations from the last financial year.
