Customs and the protection of intellectual and industrial property
Customs is also responsible for protecting intellectual property rights (copyright) and industrial property rights (trademarks) at the border in the marketing of the following products:
-
Trademarked goods, that is, goods that bear either an identical trademark or a trademark that cannot be distinguished in its essential aspects from another trademark duly registered for the same type of goods, causing confusion among consumers. The same applies to brand signs (logo, label, brochures, user manual, warranty document, etc.) and to packaging on which the goods are marked.
-
Pirated goods, that is, goods that are copies of duly registered goods and that are produced without the consent of the legitimate copyright holder (Top Manta).
