What does this entail?
The Statistics on the Motor Vehicle Registration Tax is a statistical publication based on the declarations of form 576 (IEDMT) submitted when registering a motor vehicle.
What information can be found in this publication?
It offers economic and tax information contained in the declarations themselves, classified from different perspectives: heading, type of fuel, engine capacity, Autonomous Community and tax base sections, equivalent to the value of the vehicle at the time of its acquisition.
What does it contribute to the analysis of the automobile market?
The Statistics on the Tax on the Registration of Motor Vehicles is another example of the use of administrative records of tax base, to offer information not only on the number of vehicles registered month by month, but also their cost through the two components published, taxable base and amount to be paid , and also, something that has been raising a great debate lately, such as the CO2 emissions in grams per kilometer traveled.
Where do you get the information from?
The source of data subject to statistical processing is the information contained in the declaration form 576 (Declaration of Special Tax on Certain Means of Transport) which must be submitted electronically.
What vehicles does this publication include?
Only motor vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles, are included in the scope of the statistics, while motorcycles are expressly excluded from the scope of these statistics. The target area is the first registration of the vehicle in the common tax territory, which constitutes a single-phase tax. The registration obligation covers all new or used vehicles intended for use in Spanish territory by individuals or entities residing in Spain or who own establishments located in Spain.
Which vehicles are excluded?
Not included in the statistics are, in addition to motorcycles, motor vehicles used for taxis, driving schools or rental because they are exempt from paying this tax. A vehicle that is linked to the same person for more than three months (renting) or rented with an option to purchase is not considered a rental.
Are the vehicle data comparable to those published by other sources?
Statistics provide alternative approaches or perspectives to information that is largely already available and made available to the public by other organizations. The ultimate goal, therefore, is to incorporate tax information, as well as various classification criteria that allow for analysis of market trends. As for the number of vehicles, it is slightly lower, as taxis, driving school vehicles, and rental vehicles are excluded from the tax.
What are the differences between Annual Statistics and Monthly Progress?
The Monthly Preview presents information for the current year, with a lag of approximately 25 days between the reference month and the publication month.
Annual Statistics, a compilation publication presented after the monthly progress report for all periods of a full fiscal year has been completed. It is of annual periodicity, with the monthly disaggregation variable 'Period'.
The difference between the two publications is that the monthly preview eliminates the classification variable "period," as well as some of the cross-references with the variable "registered vehicle value," to preserve statistical confidentiality. In addition, the annual report publishes a "Sales Ranking by Brand and Model."
Are the vehicles declared in Form 05 for the application for non-taxable and exempt situations included in the sales ranking by make and model?
No, they are not included because they are not covered by these statistics. Only new vehicles, passenger cars and SUVs, declared on Form 576, have been included in the ranking.
What information does the legal personality data block provide?
It provides a new perspective for the study of statistical variables depending on whether the vehicle purchaser is a natural person or legal entity.
