Household panel
The National Statistics Institute, the State Tax Administration Agency and the Institute of Fiscal Studies make a new statistical product available to the public, the Household Panel.
The objective of this new product is to provide continuity to the Personal Income Tax Filing Panel that, since the 1980s, had been published by the Institute of Fiscal Studies in collaboration with the State Tax Administration Agency, improving it in some aspects. The panel presented now incorporates a series of new features, among which the main highlights are an expansion of the population scope (going from being a sample of respondents to a sample of all households) and the extension of the information beyond the personal income tax returns themselves (detailed information from the information models and information on assets is incorporated).
The Household Panel provides a representative sample of households, with all the information on their income and assets, which is monitored over time. In this first phase of project development, the panel combines information from the National Statistics Institute (population and households with their respective characteristics) and the State Tax Administration Agency (income, assets and taxes variables, in addition to other information derived from the themselves), although the project is open to other institutions joining it with the information they have available. In this first edition, the years 2016 to 2019 are published. The request for information can be made at the following link:
