FAQs
Resolve your doubts about the Cl@ve and Mobile Cl@ve system
Cl@ve is a system aimed at unifying and simplifying the citizens' electronic access to public services. Its main goal is for the citizens to identify themselves before the Administration via agreed codes (username plus password), without having to remember various codes to access different services.
In the Cl@ve Portal you can consult all the information related to the system.
The Cl@ve identification system allows individuals to carry out procedures with the Tax Agency via the Internet. It is valid for a fixed period of time, as it can be used as many times as you like as long as it has not expired.
From the time the code is requested until it is used, no more than 10 minutes can pass . If more time passes, the code expires and you will need to request a new one.
The code obtained will be valid for a single work session at the AEAT electronic headquarters, in which several procedures can be carried out as long as the session is not closed (the browser has not been closed) or is left inactive for 60 minutes.
The code can be requested whenever it is needed. The procedures available at www.sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es show the Cl@ve icon and include, among others:

In short, it allows you to use all the options of the Tax Agency's electronic headquarters aimed at individual taxpayers for whom the regulations allow the use of a non-advanced electronic signature.
If the result of your self-assessment is to pay, you have two options:
- If you do not direct-debit the payment: It can be done with Cl@ve via payment gateway. It will connect with the Electronic Office and proceed to transmit the self-assessment without advanced electronic signature by entering the NIF + NRC + Access Code (Key + code).
- If you direct-debit the payment: will connect to the Electronic Office, fill out the form and enter the IBAN code and transmit the self-assessment by entering NIF + Access Code (Key + code).
If a taxpayer receives a Mobile Cl@ve code that they have not requested, someone could be trying to impersonate them. You don't have to worry, because the code is sent exclusively to the registered mobile number, so you will be the only one who can access the Tax Agency's Electronic Office on your behalf.
If the situation repeats itself, you must contact the Tax Agency to report the anomaly.
Cl@ve is the official system that allows you to identify yourself to Public Administrations and carry out electronic procedures.
Therefore, before confirming an authentication with Mobile Cl@ve, always ask yourself this question:
Did I start this process from the electronic headquarters or official service of a Public Administration?
If the answer is no, don't continue. Even if the screen displays the Cl@ve logo, a QR code, or a seemingly correct verification code, if you are on a website, application, or service of a private company or an unauthorized third party, they could be trying to get you to confirm an authentication that will be used to access or operate on your behalf.
Why is it important?
When you confirm an authentication with Mobile Cl@ve, you are allowing your digital identity to be used to access public services. If that authentication was initiated from a third-party website or application, that third party could operate on your behalf without you fully controlling what data is accessed, what process is carried out, or what consequences it may have. That's why:
Do not confirm authentications initiated from third-party websites or services, as they may be operating on your behalf without your full control over the scope or consequences of the operation.
How do I know if I'm on an official page?
Always check the address that appears in the browser bar. The process must have been initiated from the electronic headquarters or official service of a Public Administration. When it's time to identify yourself with Cl@ve, it's normal for the process to take you to an official authentication page. In the case of authentication provided by the Tax Agency, the official address is:
https://www2.agenciatributaria.gob.es
If the Mobile Cl@ve QR code appears within a website, application or service of a private company, do not continue with the authentication, even if the code looks correct.
What should I do if a third party offers me the option to "identify with Cl@ve"?
Cancel authentication. Then, access the official electronic headquarters of the corresponding public body yourself, by typing the address into the browser or using an official link.
Public administrations do not need a private company to mediate between you and the official headquarters so that you can identify yourself with Cl@ve.
Remember: Your codes are personal.
Your PIN, password, one-time codes, confirmation notices and any other Cl@ve elements are personal and non-transferable.
Do not share them with third parties or enter them on websites or applications other than the official headquarters of the corresponding organization or the official Cl@ve app.
Public Administrations will not ask you for your Cl@ve codes by phone, email, SMS or through third-party internet services.
What do I do if I have already confirmed an authentication outside of an official location?
Access directly to the official websites of the Public Administrations with which you may have operated and check if there are any actions, requests, accesses, powers of attorney or notifications that you do not recognize.
If you have provided codes, PINs, passwords, or other authentication data, change your credentials or use the available mechanisms to protect your digital identity.
If you detect actions that you do not recognize, contact the affected public body through its official channels.
In the case of tax procedures, you can check the current powers of attorney in your name on the Tax Agency's website and revoke those that you do not recognize or that you no longer wish to maintain.
In summary
Mobile Cl@ve must be used to identify yourself to Public Administrations at their headquarters or official services.
If a third-party website, application, or service displays a QR code or asks you to confirm authentication with Cl@ve, cancel the operation and go directly to the official website of the corresponding organization.
