Annual Report 2012

4.1.1. Transfer of information for non-tax related purposes

The Tax Agency gives information over to other Public Administrations so that these can practice the functions that they have and provide the citizen the public services for which they are responsible in a more efficient way. That information transfer generally requires the prior consent of the interested party.

The tax information provided in this manner to other public organisms, apart from saving citizens millions of trips each year to request tax certificates and reducing procedure times and management costs in the Administrations, has contributed to avoid and fight frauds when obtaining social benefits, subsidies or government aid.

As the main novelty in the year 2012, the Tax Agency signed an information transfer agreement with the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the General Secretariat for Social Security for the detection and control of the insured or beneficiary condition and determination of the contribution level of every user for the benefits of the National Health System.
