4.1.3. Information exchange

Some times, the agreements that the Tax Agency establishes with other Public Administrations do not only comprise the transfer of information but also the obtaining of information held by those Administrations on goods, rights, incomes or activities of the taxpayers. The information collected like this allows improving the services given to the taxpayer to favour the voluntary fulfilment of their tax liabilities and, especially, the fight against tax evasion.

Among the information exchange agreements, the most relevant are the ones subscribed by the Tax Agency with the General Social Security Treasury, with Labour Inspection, with the Autonomous Communities and with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, which are subscribed to 2,468 local authorities (in 2012, 168 became subscribed).
