Report 2019

3.2.2. Evolution of income for Value Added Tax

VAT collection in 2019 grew by 1.9 percent. The general trend of VAT in 2019 was, as in other cases, one of deceleration, both in real terms and in terms of prices. The evolution of gross VAT, as already mentioned, illustrates this trend: In the first half of the year, gross income (without income from other periods that is included in the rest) increased at rates higher than 4 percent and, however, the final growth of the year was 3.6 percent. By groups, the increase in SMEs was higher (4 percent) compared to that from imports, Large Companies and other filers with monthly obligations (3.3 percent), although in both cases the pace moderated as the year progressed.
