3.2.2. Evolution of income for Value Added Tax
VAT collection in 2019 grew by 1.9 percent. The general trend of VAT in 2019 was, as in other cases, one of deceleration, both in real terms and in terms of prices. The evolution of gross VAT, as already mentioned, illustrates this trend: In the first half of the year, gross revenues (excluding revenues from other periods included in the rest) increased at rates above 4 percent, and yet the final growth for the year was 3.6 percent. By group, the increase in SMEs was higher (4 percent) than that from imports, large companies and other taxpayers with a monthly obligation (3.3 percent), although in both cases the pace moderated as the year progressed.
