Three high-end vehicles stolen in the United States intercepted in a container at the port of Algeciras

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

  • The intercepted container arrived from the US. bound for the African continent
  • The market value of the three vehicles exceeds 190,000 euros

August 16, 2022.- The Risk Analysis Unit (UAR) of the Algeciras Customs, made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Office of Fiscal Analysis and Investigation (ODAIFI) of the Algeciras Command, has intercepted a container carrying three stolen vehicles in the facilities of the port of Algeciras.

The events took place on July 27 when the agents, analyzing the risk in merchandise trafficking, detected a container coming from the United States, destined for an African country, whose contents could not correspond to the declared merchandise.

Given this suspicion, the container was opened, finding inside three high-end vehicles with high equipment whose market value exceeds
190,000 euros.

After the appropriate verifications, the agents verified that they were three vehicles stolen in the United States destined for Togo.

The corresponding proceedings have been carried out regarding the events, which have been made available to the Judicial Authority, together with the vehicles and effects seized.
