Criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking in Seville dismantled

Joint operation of the Tax Agency and the National Police

  • The detainees were engaged in distributing marijuana with a high level of THC throughout the countries of southern Europe
  • They used a courier company as support for distribution

December 15, 2022.- Officials of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency, in a joint operation with agents of the National Police, dismantled last September a criminal organization dedicated to marijuana trafficking based in Seville.

During the operation, four people were arrested, two of them at a courier company in the capital of Seville and the other two at a home located in the Seville town of Camas. In addition, approximately 25 kilos of marijuana distributed in several packages were seized.

Investigation of the facts

The investigation began when investigators intercepted two packages containing 13.5 kilos of marijuana buds at a courier company in the capital.

Both Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and agents from the National Police began an investigation to identify the origin and recipient of the packages.

In the first phase, two of the people in charge of delivering the packages to the courier company were arrested and the modus operandi of this organization was discovered, which was dedicated to acquiring large quantities of marijuana with a high percentage of THC to later distribute it to the countries of southern Europe.

As the investigation progressed, it was also possible to locate a property in the Seville town of Camas that was used by the organisation to package narcotic substances.

With the corresponding judicial authorization to enter and search the home, the house was entered, finding inside various tools for the task described and seizing, thanks to the documentation found, two other packages with 12 kilos of marijuana buds ready to be sent, proceeding to the arrest of the other two individuals.

The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities, and one of them has been ordered to be sent to prison.

The investigation, which has been carried out within the ongoing collaboration between Customs Surveillance and the National Police in the fight against drug trafficking in the province of Seville, remains open.
