Two kilos of heroin and ten kilos of MDMA seized at Gran Canaria airport

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

  • A Dutch national traveling from Brussels arrested
  • The drug was hidden in the passenger's suitcase

December 16, 2022 .- Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and agents from the Civil Guard, in a joint operation, have seized two kilos of heroin and more than ten kilos of MDMA in the luggage of a Dutch passenger coming from Brussels.

After receiving information from the Belgian customs authorities about a possible shipment of narcotic substances transported by a traveller from Brussels to Gran Canaria, officers from the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Las Palmas, together with the Civil Guard at Gran Canaria airport, set up a control device for the indicated flight.

The operation was completed on December 13, when the suitcase containing the narcotic substances was located and the Dutch citizen who was transporting it was arrested.

The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court on duty No. 2 of Telde.
