Two people arrested and 1,700 kilos of hashish seized in the Marina del Este marina (Granada)

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

  • The detainees were caught unloading the hashish from a yacht

  • The judge has ordered prison for both of them

July 18, 2022.- Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and agents from the Civil Guard, within the framework of operation 'Nazarí 20 Owen', arrested two people on July 4 as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking crime and seized 1,700 kilos of hashish pollen hidden in a yacht docked in the Marina del Este marina (Granada).

The operation began several months ago with the investigation of a criminal group dedicated to trafficking hashish from Morocco to different countries in Europe, including Spain.

On July 4, the agents in charge of the investigation caught two members of the criminal group red-handed, when they had docked the yacht they were travelling on in the Marina del Este (Granada) marina, unloading bales of hashish hidden in plastic bags.

Customs Surveillance and Civil Guard investigators searched the yacht and discovered 1,700 kilos of hashish distributed in fifty-five bales that were immediately seized.

This operation was carried out jointly by agents of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Motril and the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Granada.

The detainees, aged 65 and 53 and of foreign origin, were brought before the court, and both were sentenced to prison.
