Dismantled a family clan dedicated to tobacco and marijuana smuggling

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

  • Three people arrested for crimes of smuggling, drug trafficking and electricity fraud

  • A total of 295 kilos of tobacco and 337 marijuana plants were seized

July 4, 2022.- The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard, in a joint investigation, have dismantled a family clan dedicated to the smuggling of tobacco products, as well as the cultivation and trafficking of dope.

The operation, called "Amalfi/Loralco", began at the beginning of June when Customs Surveillance officials of the Seville Tax Agency, within the framework of an investigation into tobacco smuggling, seized 295 kilos of tobacco and detained two residents of the Sevillian town of Alcolea del Río.

After new investigations, several homes were detected in which the people investigated had crops "indoor" of marijuana, starting at that time a joint investigation between the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Seville and the Lora del Río Judicial Police team of the Civil Guard.

During the course of the investigation, it was found how the homes in question were illegally connected to the electricity supply.

Once the alleged perpetrators of the crops were identified, the entry and search was ordered by the Investigative Court number 3 of Lora del Río, resulting in the intervention of 337 marijuana plants and one more person being arrested for these events, with a total of three being investigated.

The detainees, who are charged with crimes of smuggling, against public health and electricity fraud, along with the effects and procedures carried out, were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
