12 kilos of cocaine seized from a crew member at Barajas airport

Joint action by the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard

  • The drugs were distributed in ten elongated packages wrapped in plastic tape to conceal odors, which were found inside the crew member's suitcase.

May 6, 2022.- Officials of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard have managed to arrest a Mexican crew member when she tried to introduce 11,950 grams of high-purity cocaine into our country.

The operation took place on April 24, when, during an X-ray baggage check of the crew of a flight from Mexico, packages that might contain some type of narcotic substance were detected inside a suitcase.

The suspicious luggage was therefore opened in the presence of its owner, one of the flight crew members, and a bag containing ten rectangular packages wrapped in black adhesive tape containing a whitish substance similar in appearance and smell to cocaine was found inside the suitcase.

After taking a sample from one of the packages and analysing the substance, the 'narcotest' gave a positive result for cocaine, so the packages were seized, containing a total of approximately 11,950 grams of high-purity cocaine.

At that time, the crew member, a 38-year-old Mexican woman, was arrested for a crime against public health due to drug trafficking.
