Two containers with seven stolen high-end vehicles intercepted in the port of Algeciras

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

October 21, 2022.- The Risk Analysis Unit (UAR) of the Algeciras Customs, made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and civil guards from the Algeciras Command, has intercepted three containers at the facilities of the port of Algeciras that were carrying seven stolen vehicles inside.

As part of the risk analysis carried out daily at the port of Algeciras to detect stolen vehicles, the agents intercepted three containers from the United States, bound for African countries, the contents of which may not correspond to the declared merchandise.

Based on this suspicion, the containers were opened, and seven high-end vehicles with extensive equipment were found inside, the market value of which exceeds 500,000 euros.

Following appropriate checks, in collaboration with the US authorities, the agents confirmed that these were stolen vehicles, some of which had been used in robberies committed in the American country, according to the information obtained.

The corresponding proceedings have been initiated regarding the facts, which have been made available to the Judicial Authority.

The vehicles have been sent to their country of origin to be returned to their respective owners.
