August 7, 2023.- Customs Surveillance Officials of the Tax Agency have seized 7,224 imitation items of renowned brands in Mallorca for violating the Industrial Property Law.

The investigation was carried out after detecting the arrival of forty-eight packages suspected of containing illegal or counterfeit merchandise destined for commercial establishments in Mallorca, which were organized to receive and distribute them.

Once the content of the merchandise was verified, leather bags and accessories from renowned brands, sports clothing from soccer teams, sports shoes and caps from various brands were found, which allegedly violated the Industrial Property Law. The sale of these goods would have generated estimated profits of 637,920 euros.

The intervention was carried out as a result of the intensification of the prosecution of trafficking in counterfeit products through the development of new research methodologies and detection tools regarding illicit goods.

The investigation remains open, with four people being investigated in the judicial procedure as recipients of counterfeit items intended for wholesale sale, which were allegedly going to be subsequently destined for various commercial establishments and street sales.
