December 29, 2023.- Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and National Police agents have seized 500 kilos of cocaine in the port of Vigo that was hidden in a container . The joint operation, called 'Catanga-Raudo', was carried out on Wednesday the 20th by members of the Combined Customs Surveillance Unit of Vigo and Group II of the Udyco of Pontevedra.

The narcotic substance was inside a container from Panama that had stopped at several European ports, ending up at the Vigo container terminal. The drugs were arranged in sports bags on top of the legally declared merchandise in the container, following the 'blind hook' or 'Rip off' methodology.

As a result of the investigations carried out by both organizations, it was possible to seize the illicit substance, which would have had a market value of more than 12 million euros.

The operation remains open, although investigations indicate that the end-use of the merchandise was the port of Antwerp and the organization that had to carry out the rescue encountered problems that made this task difficult, with the substance finally arriving at the port of Vigo.
