A person is being investigated in Ourense for selling more than 3,700 pairs of counterfeit shoes

A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

February 22, 2023 .- Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency in Ourense and agents of the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Command of the Civil Guard of Ourense have dismantled a website selling sneakers in the province of Ourense. As a result of the actions, the person responsible for the website, who had obtained more than 200,000 euros from illicit marketing, is being summoned as an investigated person.

The investigation is based on various reports that already pointed to this individual, domiciled in Ourense, as the creator of an internet website and several profiles on a social network, which he used to sell counterfeit sneakers of various brands, merchandise that he imported from China, and which he distributed in Spain and other countries in Europe and America through parcel companies.

This page advertised the sale of various models of sneakers from well-known brands, informing users that the shoes offered were “exact replicas in sizes and materials” of the original product, but that they were not manufactured in the brand's official factories.

As a result of the investigations carried out, it was discovered that using this system, 3,739 pairs of counterfeit trainers were sold in a short period of time, obtaining a total amount of 219,352 euros, an amount paid into the account opened by the person under investigation.

Once the commission of an alleged crime against industrial property has been proven and the alleged authorship can be attributed, the creator of the aforementioned website has been summoned as an investigated person.
