July 20, 2023 .- Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have completed operation 'Street-22' with the arrest of the 14 members of the network that had been introduced into Lleida 620 kilos of cocaine hidden in a twelve-ton rotor last January 2022.

The operation ended on June 28, when members of the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Catalonia and Castilla la Mancha and agents of the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Lleida Civil Guard Command, proceeded to arrest two persons, both men of Spanish and Colombian nationality, aged 42 and 36 respectively, as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health, membership in a criminal organization and money laundering.

The arrests occurred after carrying out two entries and searches in two homes in the towns of Barcelona and Yebes (Guadalajara), in which, in addition, 181,440 euros in cash, 22 grams of cocaine, 104 grams of hashish and 534 grams of dope.

The so-called Operation 'Street-22' is a joint operation carried out between Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard of the Lleida Command, in which 620 kilos of cocaine hidden in a large rotor were seized last January 2022. of 12 tons, which had arrived at the port of Barcelona from Panama, and which was destined for a company whose director was a citizen residing in Lleida. As a result of this arrest, a first member of the organization was arrested.

With this operation, the most important carried out in Lleida in recent years in terms of cocaine intervention, it has been possible to completely dismantle the organization dedicated to drug trafficking that operated in the national territory from Lleida capital after the arrest or indictment of its members. 14 members, (six arrested and eight charged) who are charged with the crimes of criminal organization, drug trafficking and money laundering.

Other results of the operation

Thanks to the investigations, international cooperation and information provided by the UOPJ Lleida, after meetings held with the US DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), the Panamanian Authorities were able to seize the amount of 400 kilos of cocaine in Panama.

In total, the 'Street-22' operation has resulted in the intervention of five vehicles, nearly 190,000 euros in cash and more than 1,000 kilos of cocaine. It is worth highlighting the full involvement of both the Investigative Court No. 3 of Lleida and the Prosecutor's Office, which have facilitated the clarification of the events that occurred with their work.
